Astrological Trends January 2010:

·        Jupiter (the planet of expansion, luck, religion, philosophy and law) continues to conjoin Chiron (which deals with self-care), and Neptune (the planet of spirituality and illusions/misperceptions).  The Jupiter /Chiron/ Neptune conjunction will continue until the end of January 2010; however, the Chiron/Neptune influence will continue until March 2012.  There are a lot of economic difficulties we are dealing with now, and because of the Chiron /Neptune influence anything we do will be flawed because we do not and will not fully understand the extent of the problems and how to deal with them; however, with the Jupiter influence we will be overly optimistic that what we are doing is the right thing to do.  Under these influences there is big potential that we will make very bad decisions, and we will feel very good about the decisions we are making; however, we will not understand how detrimental these decisions are to our well being until it is too late.  It is interesting that we saw a lot of chaos associated with the financial institutions (Lehman Brothers going into bankruptcy and Merrill Lynch is being bought by Bank of America), and other sectors of the economy (the auto industry).  Bailout packages were passed by Congress to help the financial institutions, the Big Three Automobile Manufacturers, and a massive economic stimulus package was also passed through Congress.  Also, there was the “Cash for Clunkers” program that benefited the foreign manufacturers more that the US manufacturers, and now that the program is over the automotive sales have plummeted.  Because of the Neptune influence people are reacting out of fear instead of evaluating the situation to determine exactly what really needs to be done.  There is a great deal of optimism that this is what we need to do; however, in the end all these massive bailout and stimulus packages will end up pushing us into a deeper recession/depression, and it will last longer than it could have if we were more prudent. Another example of this is that right now we are hearing that the economy is coming back; however, the unemployment rate is higher than is been in a long time.

·        Transiting Pluto (the planet of transformation, rebirth, regeneration, death, destruction, and all issues that we don’t like looking at) continues to square Saturn on and off until October 2010.   Also, the problems we are facing today are the flaws coming to the surface from past decisions.  Most of the problems with the financial institutions today came from decisions that seemed like good ideas at the time, and helped to create a boom in our economy for awhile; however, today we facing the flaws of those decisions.

·        Uranus will continue to trine the South Node (which deals with our past) and Sextile the North Node (which deals with our future), and will continue until February 2010.  Under these influences we have the opportunity to face our issues from the past and move forward to the future. The Uranus/Nodes influence which will help us to develop new strategies to deal with the problems we are facing.  We will probably start seeing innovative ideas in how to deal with the economy, foreign policies, and other issues we are facing; however, with the Neptune influences we are also facing we should be very cautious about implementing these strategies.

·        Mercury will continue to be retrograde in Capricorn until January 14.  Under this influence there can be delays and miscommunications in all aspects of our lives.  All forms of electronics (including cell phones and computers), communications (which includes verbal and written), and all forms of travel (including planes, trains, and automobiles) may be affected.  You will definitely be affected by this if it aspects something in your chart especially if anything is in a Cardinal sign.

·        The full moon will occur on 1/29 at 1:17AM Eastern Time at 10 deg Leo.  This is usually a time of release and, being in Leo (which is the sign relating to our ego/sense of self) there will be the tendency for people to want to express their feelings and emotions and not care what it does to anyone around them.  There is the self-centered and self-indulgent aspect to Leo which would indicate that there could be a hot time in the bars tonight.
