Birmingham MI – On Saturday September 11, Birmingham Wellness Center will host “Community Wellness Day” from 12-3 at the Birmingham YMCA. The event is part of a National effort focusing on educating members of our community on healthy living. The event will consist of workshops, seminars and hands on opportunities focusing on personal health, safety, environmental and financial wellness. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Judson center in Royal Oak. “I am proud to be able to bring such an important event to our community,” notes Dr. Jennifer Turnbull Bonde, Birmingham Wellness Center Director and event host.

Community Wellness Day is a national event focusing on educating the members of our community on very important information that is critical to the total wellness for all our residents. We will be sharing an array of information on health, safety, environmental, and financial wellness. This event will be taking place in many cities nationwide during a 4 week period in the fall of 2010. This as an important day in our community, we want to empower people to take responsibility for their family’s well being. The local law enforcement will be on hand to provide important id information for children, families and seniors. The local fire department will be providing fire prevention and safety information. There will be many other safety programs available, including internet safety, and identity fraud protection. We will also be featuring financial literacy and environmental awareness programs. We will have participants sharing information on health screenings, wonderful children’s activities and much more. There will be information available for all ages of our community. Admission to the event is free. There will also be fun, food & entertainment.

The health care crisis is not going to be solved in Washington; it is going to be solved in our individual households through education and awareness, and people understanding their lifestyle decisions. Those of us in the work to protect and support the community’s wellness need to give people the tools to understand and take responsibility for their family’s health and wellbeing. This is the reason that we are proud to be bringing this event to our town. We know that you value the future health and prosperity of our community as much as we do. We ask for your participation & support as we engage in a cooperative effort that benefits the needs of Birmingham and the surrounding areas.

Birmingham Wellness Center emphasizes improving health in an effort to reduce the risk of pain and illness in the first place. Most people would rather be healthy and avoid illness, if they could. Birmingham Wellness Center is a supportive and encouraging environment, offering a rediscovery of personal health and wellness.

We have chosen the Judson Centeras the beneficiary of our event. The Judson Centeroffers personalized services for children and families in need including adoption, autism services, family preservation, foster care, respite, residential living, supported employment and mental health counseling.
